Al Anfushi Cultural Group from Egypt

Back in 1985 a group of dancers, musicians and singers were asked by the local government of Alexandria to put establish a folk troupe to show the cultural palaces of their area of Egypt. The Al Anfushi Cultural Group have 25 of the popular dances of the Alexandria region in their repertoire.

Al Anfushi have been credited as a national group representing Egypt in the international competitions and festivals. Inspiration for the Al Anfushi folklore dances is derived from regions all over Egypt and especially the environs of the Alexandria region. At many of the local, national and international Ministry of Culture events, you will find the Al Anfushi Cultural Group presenting the best of Egyptian Folk Dancing. The Al Anfushi performers love to express their culture as it represents the soul of Egyptian folklore including their traditions and customs.

They have travelled far and wide to perform at International Folk Dance festivals, other counties in northern Africa, many parts of Europe, as Far East to Vietnam and to the USA.
