DAMHSAFEST – Southern Star 14th July

The Cork International Folk Dance Festival “Damhsafest 2012” will take place from Wednesday 25th to Sunday 29th July.
This year’s Damhsa Fest will see groups from Cardiff in Wales, Russia, Finland, Kentucky USA, the Philiipines, and Togo in West Africa, the Kiely Walsh Academy of Irish Dance and the Owenabue Valley Traditional Group. The festival will kick off on Wednesday 25th July at 10.30 am with a performance outside Cork City Hall for the Lord Mayor Cllr John Buttimer and the Mayor of Cork County Cllr Barbara Murray.

From 25th to 29th July, the groups will give a number of performances free to the public throughout Cork City and County with a daily performance taking place at the Opera Lane at 11.30 am. The festival will culminate with a spectacular gala concert in the Cork City Hall on Saturday 28th July at 8pm where the audience can see colourful displays of traditional Folk Dancing in their native costumes.
